Cairo Security Director Osama Bedeir inspected security services in Cairo’s Garden City and Zamalek districts, where several embassies are located.
Bedeir passed by the embassies of the US, UK, Italy, Canada, Germany, Algeria and Spain to ensure that proper security measures are taken.
He said a car-free space should be left around each embassy.
The security official also made a surprise inspection of Al Moez Street in Islamic Cairo on Monday.
The street should be allocated to pedestrians and vehicles banned from 10 am to 10 pm, he said.
A car bomb exploded outside the Italian consulate in downtown Cairo on Saturday, leaving one person killed and nine others injured.
