The last words said by the martyrs to their loved ones are clear examples of the love they had for the UAE and its family values.
The families and loved ones of some of the 45 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the UAE during Operation Restoring Hope, shared with Emarat Al Youm newspaper some of the last texts and calls they received from the servicemen.
“Sell my car to build a mosque”
Fatima Jasem Saeed, the sister of 24-year-old martyr Jasem Saeed Al Saadi, said her brother’s last request before going to Yemen was to sell the car he bought so that the money can be used to build a mosque.
He made the request in his last phone call to the family at 11pm on Thursday. She said that he made sure to talk to every family member as if he were saying goodbye for the last time.
Fatima said her brother was known for his strong personality and was loved and respected by everyone.
“Give our children Dh20 each to motivate them for the first day of the school”
Salima Mohammad Hamid, the mother of the two martyrs, Hamid and Rashid Mohammad Abbas Al Beloushi from Kalba, Sharjah, said she gave the most precious things she owned to her country.
Meya’d Mohammad, the widow of 35-year-old martyr Hamid, said she was shocked when she received a telephone call with news that her husband had died. She was proud that he had died in such a noble way — fighting for his country.
She said she has five children (three boys and two girls); the oldest one is 10 years old. In his last phone call her husband asked her to give each child Dh20 to motivate them on the first day of school.
She also said she and her children were anxiously waiting for his return to celebrate his birthday, which falls on September 13.
Mariam Mosa, widow of 37-year-old Rashid and a mother of four, said the last text she received from him was at 6.52am. It said, “Good morning …I miss you”.
An uncle and his nephew sacrifice their lives for their country
The Al Yamahee family from Fujairah laid to rest Khalifa Ahmad Al Yamahee and his sister’s son, Rashid Saeed Al Yamahee.
Ahmad Al Yamahee, the brother of martyr Khalifa, said he was a good, helpful and responsible man who had three sons and two daughters. He said the martyr keenly followed his children’s progress in school and would always make sure to call his mother and check on her.
