Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby received Thursday a report from Arab League's Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian and Relief Affairs Sheikha Hessah Al-Thani on the humanitarian situation and urgent relief needs of Sudan.
After presenting its report, Sheikha Hessah told reporters that she had recently led an Arab League delegation in a two-week recent visit to Sudan to assess the humanitarian situation there.
She noted that the Arab League's delegation visit was successful and helped enhance Arab League's humanitarian role in Sudan.
She added that the Arab League is embarking on formulating a new mechanism for humanitarian action in Sudan.
Sheikha stated that there is a need for more support to development projects in Sudan, especially building and renovation of schools and hospitals.
