
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri has met with UK special envoy to Libya Jonathan Powell as part of the Egyptian top diplomat's current visit to London.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry Monday, the minister said the meeting dwelt on the latest developments in Libya and repercussions on regional and international security.
Shoukri added that the talks also dwelt on means to solve the Libyan problem and achieve security and stability there.
He highlighted the importance of respecting the will of the Libyans expressed in free elections and supporting the legitimate establishments that came through the elections.
"Dialogue among the Libyan parties that renounce violence is the only way out of the Libyan status quo, the minister noted.
For his part, the British envoy said his country shared views with Egypt on Libya updates.
He stressed the need for supporting legitimacy and popular will in Libya.
Powell also condemned the terror attack that took place in Sinai, expressing his sincere sympathy with families of those killed.
