Sisi asserted Egypt's keenness on bolstering ties with ASEAN member-states

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) said Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted his country's keenness on boosting relations with the association member-states.

In a statement released following a meeting between Sisi and ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh, ASEAN said the secretary-general briefed President Sisi on the latest developments that took place in the league and its vision for coming phase.

The statement said Sisi reiterated the need for beefing up relations between Egypt and ASEAN member-states, shedding light on the measures taken by the Egyptian government to back and protect investments along with the accomplishment of the new Suez Canal project that will support the international trade movement.

ASEAN secretary-general also highlighted the vast economic potentials of the member states with a total domestic product reaching to dlrs 2.5 trillion, adding that the association would benefit from its economic relations with Egypt.

The statement also pinpointed to the two sides' agreement on continuing cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, combating violence and terrorist.

Sisi left here winding up an Asian tour that took him to Singapore and China.
