Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underlined on Sunday the importance of fostering international community's efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.
The International community should confront terrorism and extremism by security and military confrontations that should run parallel to social and economic development, Sisi said during a meeting with former US President Bill Clinton at his residence in New York.
Religious and intellectual dimensions should be addressed while confronting the two phenomenons to overcome all reasons that push some people to join these terrorist groups, he added.
The two sides underlined the importance of achieving peace in the Middle East region to address one of the reasons terrorist groups use to lure elements to join them.
Mideast peace would certainly have a positive impact on the region at the political, economic and security levels and would secure a better future for all generations to come, they added.
Sisi left for New York on Thursday to take part in the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.
