President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Sunday that the media and press outlets in cooperation with the Egyptian government are undertaking a joint mission in the face of massive dangers besetting the homeland at the internal and external levels.
At a meeting with chief editors of the national press institutions, president Sisi added that these dangers do not only target a ruling regime but seek to destroy a nation and a country that has a great history and has a bright future ahead of it.
The current danger is seeking to destabilize the Egyptian State, he said, adding that the media and press outlets have a role to play in the face of this plot.
Maintaining the sovereignty of the Egyptian State requires efficient performance by the State institutions in order to meet the needs of the great Egyptian people, he added.
Sisi warned of certain powers who are seeking now to use the internet sites to undermine the homeland through spreading destructive ideas. He cited websites such as Media Limited, Egypt Now and Culture as examples.
Answering a question about financing these websites, the president said that funds come from Qatar, Turkey and the Brotherhood.
He asserted that nobody could defeat the Egyptian people as long as they are united.
