
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed the situation of the Egyptian plane hijacked this morning during a phone conversation with his Cypriot counterpart Nicos Anastasiades.
Egypt is keen on the safety and security of all the passengers of the hijacked plane and is taking measures necessary to ensure their safety, the president has said during the call.
He hailed the Cypriot side’s cooperation with Egypt on the situation.
Cyprus is willing to fully cooperate with the Egyptian authorities and will take all necessary measures to ensure the security of the plane, Anastasiades said.
Cypriot officials will continue to cooperate with their Egyptian peers until situation is over, he said.
The domestic EgyptAir flight departed from Alexandria’s Borg Al Arab airport and was scheduled to land in Cairo at 7:15 a.m. but was hijacked and forced to land in Larnaca, Cyprus.
