
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has given orders to the government to amend laws regulating the electoral process following the Constitutional Court's annulment of one of the articles of the electoral constituencies law.
The Supreme Constitutional Court annulled earlier in the day the third article of the electoral constituencies law.
Required amendments should not take more than one month and should abide by the Constitution, Sisi instructed.
He called for necessary coordination among all State institutions to hold parliamentary polls, which were scheduled to take place later this month, as quickly as possible.
The Egyptian Presidency reiterated full respect of judicial rulings, saying all State institutions are committed to the rule of law.
The article, which the court considered at its session today as unconstitutional, is related to the scope of electoral constituencies, the number of seats allocated for each constituency and the individual list.
