President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has ordered the government to set up relief centers to help people during crises and maintain sewage networks to avoid similar crises in the future, the presidential spokesman said.
The president made the remark during a meeting Saturday with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and the ministers of housing, social solidarity, water resources and local development, Alaa Youssef said.
The conferees discussed means of improving sewage networks and maintaining water stations to avoid such crises which stem from torrential rains, the spokesman said.
Ismail reviewed the outcome of his visit to Beheira, which is swept by rain water.
The premier is following up the problem of piling water in ago-drainage as a result of heavy rains in Beheira, the spokesman said, noting that Ismail suggested six decisions, including deepening drainage to handle the problem.
The president gave directives to put the decisions into effect immediately to alleviate people's suffering, especially in Beheira and Alexandria.
Ismail noted that emergency teams were formed for water suction in Alexandria.
