President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdel Aziz attended on Saturday a workshop on the Suez Canal in Sharm El Sheikh.
Suez Canal Authority Chief Mohab Mamish gave an inaugural speech, reviewing efforts to secure the waterway for world trade.
"This is a mission for which we do our utmost to fulfill with all pride," said Mamish.
The smooth operation of the canal asserts the Egyptian people's ability to face challenges, he said.
Mamish pointed out to the unique location of the Suez Canal between theRed Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.
It also links the continents of Asia, Africa and Europe, he noted.
As for the new development project in the Suez Canal region, the top official said the planning of the project was properly conducted.
This was through an internationally-known consultancy firm, he added.
Mega projects will be implemented in the region in the coming period in various industries and domains, said Mamish.
Two cities for micro enterprises will be established, he noted.
This planning will achieve the highest degrees of success in investment and development, he said.
"We invite all to invest in this promising area," he said.
The Suez Canal Authority chief said the main features of the general scheme will be presented during the EEDC.
Four workshops will be held later to review details of the project, he added,
Among the advantages of the project is the New Suez Canal which will give the area an international ranking as it will be able to receive most kinds of ships, he said.
This will be directly inflected on the development project in the region, he said.
He also noted new investment laws that will provide protection for investors and national interests.
The infrastructure in the region is one of the advantages. This includes a network of roads and maritime routes, he said.
The current political atmosphere which assures stability was highly figured out by Mamish.
