Sisi stresses parliamentary polls needed to complete roadmap

President Abdel Fattah al Sisi said parliamentary elections have to be held to create a legalizing and supervising parliament and complete the political roadmap.

Delivering an address to a celebration marking Labor Day Monday, Sisi ruled out the possibility of holding the parliamentary polls before the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, stressing his respect to the rulings of the Supreme Constitutional Court.

The path to development is quite long and needs work and effort from all Egyptians, the president said.

The state is doing its job in fighting terrorism but all segments of the people have an important role in this mission as they have to be patient during the construction of the Egyptian state, Sisi said.

The president underlined the importance of promoting the role of youths to protect and lead the country, urging political powers to work on this part.

The presidency has organized a nine-month course for 2,000 youths from across Egypt to qualify them to work inside and outside the country, Sisi said in an address on Labor Day, which falls on May 1.

Another project was carried out to train some army conscripts on the use of computers and communication skills, he said.

Skilled manpower is needed to fulfill the needs of national infrastructure, agricultural, housing and energy projects, he said.

The president said he exerted efforts in the past period over the issue of minimum and maximum limits for wages, saying work is underway to enforce the maximum ceiling of wages in the coming period.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi urged the youths to make use of the available job opportunities instead of waiting for jobs at the government.

Addressing a celebration held on Labor Day, Sisi said the state will announce soon new measures to develop technical education to create skillful workers capable of fulfilling the needs of national projects and Arab countries.

He described workers as the “state’s strong arm” as the country will develop through their efforts.

The state is giving special attention to pensioners to provide them with an appropriate standard of living, he said, adding that it is also keen on the freedom of the judiciary and media, he said.
