An Egyptian national who was killed Thursday at his workplace in Benghazi is Christian, said a well-placed security source Friday.
The slain national was shot dead when unidentified gunmen opened fire at his shop on Thursday, the source said.
The assailants fled the scene.
The body was moved to Benghazi Medical Center and the authorities concerned were notified to launch an investigation.
Car bombings and assassinations of soldiers, police officers and expats have become common in Benghazi since the ouster of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
