Two people were killed with sniper fire in latest round of sporadic violence in the northern city of Tripoli, the official National News Agency (NNA) reported on Sunday. Fighting has subsided along the demarcation lines separating the districts of Baal Mohsen and Bab El-Tebbaneh, the NNA, adding that tension was high with sporadic crackle of sniper fire echoing across the port city, some 80 km from Beirut. Meanwhile, government security forces staged patrols at the hot spots in a bid to quell the violence, which broke out last Monday, claiming so far at least 11 lives and leaving more than 60 people wounded.
