The Ministry of Social Solidarity said Monday that cuts in July wages of employees at the insurance sector were due to an increase in insurance fees by nine percent.
The increase in insurance fees applies to all civil servants and not only workers at the insurance sector, said Samy Abdel Hady, the head of the fund of insurance for employees of the public business and private sectors.
The increase went into effect on July 1, Abdel Hady said.
His remarks followed false news posted on social networking sites about a decline in wages of employees at the insurance sector.
