
The First Vice-President of the Republic, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, chaired on Wednesday at the Republican Palace the meeting of the Higher Committee for Implementation of East Sudan Peace Agreement which was signed in Eritrean capital of Asmara in 2006.
The Committee heard two reports on the implementation of the East Sudan Peace Agreement and performance of East Sudan Development Fund.
Member of the committee, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, said in a press statement after the meeting that the Committee assured that the Agreement has brought peace , security and stability to the East Sudan, commending cooperation of the parties to the Agreement
He said that the Committee has agreed to hold another meeting after two weeks to present a plan on implementation of the remaining items of the Esat Sudan Peace Agreement and another plan on program of East Sudan Development Fund for coming period.
He affirmed the parties' determination to continue work to complete implementation of all articles of the Agreement.
Dr. Ismail disclosed that the meeting also reviewed outcome of East Sudan Development Conference in Kuwait, describing implementation of the outcome of the conference as more than good.
