First Sharia Judge in Damascus Mahmoud al-Maarawi on Sunday announced that Sunday June 29th is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in Syria.
In a statement, al-Maarawi said the crescent which heralds the first day of Ramadan was not visible on Friday, which means that the last day of Shaaban will be on Saturday and the first day of Ramadan will be on Sunday.
