Syrian shells land in North Lebanon

Several shells fired from the Syrian side of the borders have landed in northern Lebanese towns on Monday.  The shells landed on the outskirts of Hakar Janin, Al-Noura and Al-Dababiya towns in Akkar region without resulting in casualties, local media reports tonight.  Heavy fighting was heard along Nahr Al-Kabeer (the big river) between Lebanon and Syria which panicked the residents in the region.  The border area in north Lebanon have been the scene of frequent stray shells, missiles and bullets from the fighting between the Syrian regular troops and the rebel Free Syrian Army in the recent months; Sometimes these accidents result in casualties.  On March 20 a Grad missile and mortar shells landed in the area which drew international condemnations and calls for respecting Lebanon sovereignty by both sides of the conflict in Syria.
