The committee in charge of monitoring the work of all charities in the country has put together two task force teams entrusted with keeping a close eye on any violations of laws governing charitable donations, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The statement issued by the ministry of social affairs and labor urged the two teams to stop the work of any charity that does not have an official license to carry out its charitable activities, namely collecting donations of money from the public.
Part of the two teams' monitoring activity is to vet ads in the media, including social networks, that ask for donations and establish their origins and validity if not legality, said the statement.
It added that the two teams should be watchful of charities that employ undocumented workers or those with questionable documentation, with the aim of ensuring that only qualified employees work for these charities whose work qualifications are above board and legal in every respect.
Today's committee meeting was the fifth and was chaired by undersecretary of the ministry of social affairs and labor Abdulmuhsen Al-Mutairi and was attended by representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs, interior, commerce, awqaf, information, in addition to the central bank of Kuwait and others.
