Alleged Al-Qaeda member Abdul Salam Abdulaziz Al-Faraj has turned himself in to Saudi authorities, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday. Al-Faraj, who is one of 47 on a wanted list released by the Kingdom early this year, also figured in a similar list by Interpol, which issued a worldwide alert in January this year for him and others with suspected links to Al-Qaeda. "Al-Faraj contacted Saudi officials with the help of his relatives requesting them to allow him to return home and surrender, which eventually took place today," said a spokesman of the Interior Ministry in Riyadh. "His return was arranged and he was reunited with his family upon his arrival," the spokesman said, refusing to disclose details about Al-Faraj's whereabouts before he surrendered. He said Al-Faraj would face the same legal procedures that have been followed in similar cases. The family members of the suspect were happy to see Al-Faraj surrender in the holy month of Ramadan, said the spokesman. He said that Saudi security agencies were on the hunt for dozens of the Kingdom’s citizens including Al-Faraj who have joined Al-Qaeda or similar militant outfits in the Arabian Peninsula.
