
The Interior Ministry beefed up on Monday security in the surroundings of Saint Mary and Saint Athanasius Church in Nasr City in preparation for the funeral prayers of the victims of the explosion that hit El Boutroseya Coptic Orthodox Church yesterday.
The streets surrounding the church were closed to cars, according to MENA.
The bomb experts combed the area and civil protection members were heavily deployed in the area.
Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese will lead the funeral prayer at 11 am.
Early on Sunday, a bomb exploded inside El Boutroseya Coptic Orthodox Church (St. Peter & St. Paul Coptic Orthodox Church) in Cairo’s Abbassiya district, leaving 23 people dead and 49 others injured.
