
The judicial council in Lebanon started on Friday the trial of Islamist prisoners who allegedly fought the Lebanese Army in 2007 at the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared in northern Lebanon. Judge Jean Fahd is chairing the trial of Fatah al-Islam members charged with crimes and misdemeanors against Lebanese soldiers during the battle at the northern refugee camp. The Nahr al-Bared case has been split up into several cases. Following Fatah al-Islam’s defeat at Nahr al-Bared, security services sought the arrest of 570 individuals for involvement with the Al-Qaeda-inspired group.
