Police troops in Suez are still deployed outside polling stations and on main streets in the Canal city to protect the electoral process as the second phase of parliamentary polls enters the second day Monday.
Police tightened security measures at Ahmed Hamdy tunnel, which connects Suez with South Sinai, a police source said.
Troops deployed at the southern entrance to Suez and at the Canal ferry are on high alert, the source added.
The security plan to protect the parliamentary vote started Sunday, said Suez police chief Gamal Abdel Bary.
The troops received training for three months ahead of the parliamentary elections, Abdel Bary added.
