More than 8100 Palestinian families sponsoring orphans have received aid from the Human Appeal International as part of the winter aid campaign 'Tarahamu' (show compassion in Arabic), launched last year by the UAE to help people in Iraq and the Levant during a powerful snow storm.
Ibrahim Rashid, Commissioner of the HAI in the West Bank, said the agency's team delivered winter aid worth Dh5 million to poor families in 2604 humanitarian missions in Palestinian cities and towns.
The HAI's effort targets more than 15000 Palestinian families.
In the Palestinian territory, the HAI's aid targets shelter houses accommodating underprivileged people, including elderly and disabled people and orphans, and underprivileged Bedouin communities living in tents and tin sheds. The agency also directly deliver in-kind assistance to beneficiaries, Rashid noted.
Palestinian Minister of Social Affairs, Shawki al-Issa, thanked the UAE for its humanitarian initiatives for the Palestinians.
He described the HAI as one of the active agencies which continue to deliver relief and development aid to needy Palestinians families.
