
The UAE has presented equipment to the Somali police within the framework of the support it provides to the people and Government of Somalia in various fields.
The equipment was delivered at a ceremony in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, in the presence of Mohammed Ahmed Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to Somalia, Abdirazak Mohamed Omar, Somali Minister of Internal Security, and General Mohamed Sheikh Hassan Hamid, Commander of Somali police, along with a number of police officers.
In a statement on the occasion, the Minister of Internal Security thanked the UAE, which he said plays a leading role in Somalia through its development and humanitarian projects and its assistance to the people and Government of Somalia.
The Minister also praised the military aid provided by the UAE to the Somali police, stressing that this military equipment helps the Somali police in its security task to serve the nation. He noted that the assistance confirms the strength of relations between the Governments of the UAE and Somalia.
Al Hammadi reiterated the UAE's willingness to provide more aid and support to Somalia in various fields based on the strength of relations between the two countries, saying that the military aid provided by the UAE to Somali police comes within the framework of Emirati projects to support Somalia's security institutions as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
