The Parliamentary Division of the UAE's Federal National Council participated in a preparatory meeting held by the parliaments of Islamic countries on the side-lines of the 133rd Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union, to discuss developments in the Palestinian territories.
The Geneva meeting was dedicated to discussions of the Palestinian cause and ways of responding Israeli aggressions on Palestinians and refugees' rights.
Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, First Deputy Speaker of the FNC and Chair of the Parliamentary Division, headed the UAE delegation to the meeting chaired by Speaker of Lebanon's parliament, Nabih Berri.
In a final communique, the parliamentary delegations of Islamic countries urged for popular action in support of Palestinians in Jerusalem against Israel's aggressions on Al Aqsa Mosque.
They condemned the aggressions as "war crimes against humanity."
They also blamed the Israeli government for the developments in Palestine and strongly condemned Israeli settlers' crimes against Palestinians and the Islamic holy site.
The participants also called upon the international community to protect the Palestinian people and put an end to Israel's continued violation of international law and norms and resolutions considering Christian and Islamic holy sites as an inseparable part of Jerusalem, the capital of a Palestinian state.
