
Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Saudi Foreign Minister, led a Saudi delegation to the meeting, which was held in Paris on Tuesday, to discuss the crisis in Syria.
The meeting gathered a number of regional and international parties represented in the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, Turkey, Germany, the United States, Italy and the UK.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the meeting, the Foreign Minister said that the meeting discussed the developments in the Syrian arena, international contacts and the importance of uniting efforts and visions on the political process in the light of the principles of the Geneva Declaration 1, based on maintaining civilian and military state institutions, and the formation of a transitional body for government with no place for Bashar Assad in it.
The meeting also discussed the importance of the departure of foreign troops and militias from Syria to advance the political process there, according to these principles and frameworks, he said, adding that continuation of coordination and consultation among countries was also agreed upon.
The Minister reiterated the keenness of regional and international parties to reach a solution that preserves the territorial integrity of Syria and protects its people.
Upon his arrival in Paris on Tuesday evening and ahead of the plenary meeting, Al-Jubeir held a trilateral meeting with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and Turkey. He also held a bilateral meeting with French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius.
