Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The United Arab Emirates, UAE, will continue to develop its oil and gas sector to remain one of the world's reliable providers of energy products, said H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.

''Development of the vital energy sector will continue under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to deliver more achievements, given the fact that the sector is pivotal for development and progress of the nation and for supporting the national economy,'' H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed said while opening the 19th Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, ADIPEC, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on Monday.

Organised under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the exhibition is hosting more than 2,000 companies, 25 country pavilions, 700 speakers, 8,500 delegates and 100,000 trade professionals from more than 125 countries.

Held under the theme ‘Strategies for the New Energy Landscape’, and spanning 130,000 gross square metres of floor space, including a dedicated quay-side exhibition area with live tours of offshore vessels, ADIPEC 2016 celebrates its 19th edition with the largest event to date.

''The oil and gas industry is experiencing qualitative growth, thanks to the constant support lent by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces,'' H.H. Sheikh Hamed added.

The UAE oil and gas industry will present its development projects and achievements, acquire knowledge about the latest industry trends and technology, and share experiments and experiences with industry leaders and exhibitors, he said.

H.H. Sheikh Hamed also took a tour of the exhibition to learn about advanced technologies, services and products.

Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Group, several oil ministers, CEOs of local and international oil companies, oil and gas experts and OPEC Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo attended the opening ceremony.

The conference programme, the world’s largest and most influential speaking platform for the oil and gas industry, will invite government decision makers to the stage in the first of two Global Ministerial Dialogues, which will focus on driving sustainability and shaping future energy scenarios amid an evolving global supply mix.

ADIPEC’s opening day also featured one of three Global Business Leader sessions, offering a world outlook for the oil industry, and shedding light on what challenges and opportunities to expect in the short, medium, and long-term economic cycles.

Three of eight panel sessions will also take place tomorrow, covering topics on the application of research and technology as a transitional strategy, nurturing and cultivating the next generation of energy leaders, and the resilience of the oil and gas industry in the future global outlook.

The exclusive VIP Programme, dedicated to members of the prestigious Middle East Petroleum Club, will provide a fresh outlook to the business world, including global energy market insights.

Meanwhile, the record-breaking Technical Conference, organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), will deliver nearly 700 technical presentations in nine discipline categories, organised across 106 technical sessions throughout the four-day landmark energy event.
