UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said early Thursday that the next round of intra-Syrian peace talks
will be meaningful only if a truce in the country is restored.
While noting that the latest peace talks in Geneva were overshadowed by the failure of the current ceasefire to hold, he urged international partners and warring parties in Syria to restore the truce and begin a new round of talks.
The exact date for the next round of Syrian peace talks will be announced in May, said the envoy.
