A total of 1,760 drivers' licenses were issued for illegal residents in the first nine months of 2014, the Central Agency for Remedying Illegal Residents' Status announced on Saturday.
Acting director of the information department at the Agency Abdullah Al-Farhan told KUNA that 987 drivers' licenses were issued in Jahra Governorate, 271 ones in Farwaniya Governorate, 225 in Al-Assimah Governorate, 76 in Hawalli Governorate and 38 in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate.
The move is in line with a Cabinet decree, adopted in 2011, to provide privileges and facilities to illegal residents including male and female residents.
