The special representative of the African Union high commissioner in Somalia Ambassador Ma'mon Sedki has warned of suicide terrorist attacks that might be carried out by Shabaab extremist group during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
He underscored that the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) and the Somali army are working to confront any terrorist attacks and prevent the killing of innocent civilians.
In statements on Friday, Sedki lauded the success of the security forces in foiling a suicide attack on a meeting held to discuss the formation of a new administration in the central region of the country.
AMISOM countered an attack by three gunmen and a driver of a booby-trapped car at the entrance to the meeting venue, he noted.
