Yemen’s permanent representative to the United Nations headquarters in Geneva ,Ali Mujawar, has reviewed the Yemeni government efforts to maintain and protect the human rights.
In Yemen’s speech during the session of UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), which was held in Geneva on Thursday under the sixth item on the approval of the inclusive periodic review reports and devoted to discuss Yemen’s periodic review report, Mujawar indicated o the difficult and complex conditions and the challenges experienced by Yemen in various fields, which require the support and assistance of the international community to the Yemeni government to enable it to fulfill its obligations in the field of human rights.
Mujawar pointed out that the Yemeni government has accepted 166 of the total 191 recommendations it received during the periodic review last January, which affirms Yemen’s keenness to deal positivity with the mechanism of the inclusive periodic review and reflects its real trend to maintain and protect the human rights.
He indicated that the current challenges and difficulties did not enable the government to undertake the necessary consultations with all parties concerned with the topics included in the remaining 25recommendations, noting that the government would consider those recommendations in line with its legal, religious and social obligations and according to the available potentials and resources.
During the session, representatives of 12 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and China, praised Yemen’s acceptance of the large number of recommendations and confirmed their support to the Yemeni government for completing the political process towards the stability and development.
Meanwhile ,a number of international organizations participating in the session demanded the implementation of the recommendations committed by Yemen.
The council approved unanimously the results report of the periodic review of Yemen.
