Yemen's higher security commission declared a 12-hour night curfew as of 6:00 p.m., Saturday until further notice in northern districts of Sanaa as a result of spiraling clashes between the security forces and the Houthi militants.
The curfew covers the districts of Shamlan, Mathbah, Thahban and Dela'e where fierce clashes have been going on over the last four days and spiraled seriously this afternoon.
The security committee called on all residents of these areas to remain at home for their own safety until the end of the current turmoil.
It expressed regret over the move, blaming it on the urgency of protecting the higher interests of the country.
