Algerian Renault symbol price should be lower than imported model

The manufacturer of the first Algerian car, Renault Algeria Production (RAP), is the only one authorized to set the price of the Algerian Symbol but this price should be lower than the one of the imported model, said Thursday in Algiers, the Minister of Industry and Mining Abdesselam Bouchouareb.
“I cannot set the price of this car but in comparison with an imported car that has the same qualities, the price will be lower,” said Bouchouareb in a press briefing at the end of the conference on economic and social development.
According to the minister, it is the French manufacturer that will set the price of the Algerian Symbol.
“Our role as public authorities was to give it all the necessary facilitations so that it can create the factory and manufacture this car within the time limits,” he underlined.
According to him, the vehicle manufactured in Algeria will be of a “high-class” (3rd class), well-equipped and includes a GPS, adding that the manufacturer plans to make other models of this type in the forthcoming years.
