Dubai - Arab Today

During his visit to Dubai’s GITEX 2014 on Thursday, Labour Minister Saqr Ghobash stressed the importance of such exhibitions as they contribute towards improving governmental services and increase customer satisfaction levels, especially as it provides an ideal opportunity for many participants to be enlightened with many modern technologies to shift towards a smart government. He was accompanied by Dr. Omar Al Nuaimi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Policies and Strategy Affairs, as they visited the MoL stand within the federal government section, as they were also briefed about the Smart services offered by a number of participants in the exhibition.
Ghobash has informed concerned parties within the ministry of the need to participate within GITEX to benefit from innovative technology solutions offered by major specialized international companies, as well as take advantage of the experiences of technical successes to achieve the strategic plan of the Ministry of Labour, which is to meet the customers’ expectations and keep the highest levels of satisfaction.
Ghobash was enlightened with the ministry’s latest smartphones application which offers around 74 services in both Arabic and English, 30 informative services, 34 inquiry services and 10 procedural services, with future plans of adding more services to ease labour related procedures to all the customers. The Smartphone application is available on Apple Store and Google Play in addition to the BlackBerry world in both Arabic and English plus the ability to navigate between screens easily.
He was also briefed with the smart Drone which covers around two square kilometers over a 15 to 20 minutes battery-life span (rechargeable), reaching altitudes up to one kilometers, the machine is controlled wirelessly with the possibility of setting up coordinates of the preferred location through its built-in navigation system. The Drone was introduced by the Information Technology Department at the Ministry of Labour and built in partnership with a team of technical college students from the Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai, where they’ve developed it according to specifications and standards proposed by the ministry.
Not forgetting the immediate issuance of "Absher" cards to a number of U.A.E. citizens working in the private sector upon their visit to the Ministry’s stand and after meeting all the requirements. Those cards are part of a "discounts program and special promotions offered to encourage citizens to work in the private sector, the program was launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and is supervised by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and managed by the Ministry of Labour as it directly monitors and regulates the labour market.
