
Maja Kociancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative, Catherine Ashton, Thursday reiterated the EU's great concern over the deteriorating situation in the south of Israel and Gaza Strip.
Responsing to a question by the Kuwait News Agency, (KUNA), during a press confernce here she said "there is intense dplomatic activity on all levels in order to pass on the messages to urge to return to calm." Contacts are taking place at all levels including EU embassies in the region and from Brussels, she said and repeated calls for all sides to show maximum restraint to avoid casulaties and re-establish calm.
The EU foreign ministers will discuss the situation in Gaza when they next meet in Brussels later this month, added the spokesperson.
