IAEA underlines Iran\'s commitment to implementation of Geneva nuclear deal

Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano praised Iran for its cooperation with the agency, saying Tehran has kept up its end of the bargain in accordance to the Geneva nuclear deal cut by the country and the six major world powers late in November. Amano confirmed that Iran was living up to the six-month accord reached last November, the Voice of Russia reported. The measures implemented by Iran, and the further commitments it has undertaken, represent a positive step forward, but much remains to be done to resolve all outstanding issues," he added. Speaking at a session of the IAEA Board of Governors, the nuclear watchdog chief said Iran had so far completed the six practical steps that were planned for the first six-month period and called this achievement "a positive step." The framework agreement between Tehran and the Sextet of world powers was signed on 11 November 2013, in what was a breakthrough following years of on-and-off negotiations that aimed at allaying international fears over Iran’s nuclear program. Iran finally agreed to limit its unclear enrichment to 5 percent in exchange for some easing of sanctions. The deal took effect on January 20.
