Murray survives another scare to make tennis semis in Rio
Britain's Andy Murray celebrates after winning his men's singles quarter-finals against US player Steve Johnson on August 12, 2016
Rio de Janeiro - Arab Today
Defending champion Andy Murray battled through a second successive three-setter to reach the Olympic Games semi-finals Friday with a 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (7/2) win over Steve Johnson of the United States.
Murray had been 0-3 down in the final set to Fabio Fognini in the third round 24 hours earlier and he was a break down at 3-4 in the decider to the 12th seeded Johnson on Friday before his big-hitting game saw him through.
Murray finished with 31 winners but also 36 unforced errors.
He will face either Japanese fourth seed Kei Nishikori or France's Gael Monfils for a place in the gold medal match.
Friday's other quarter-finals see 2008 champion Rafael Nadal taking on Thomaz Bellucci, the Brazilian number one.
The winner of that tie will meet either Juan Martin del Potro, the conqueror of Novak Djokovic, or Roberto Bautista Agut for a place in Sunday's final.

to 'eternal style' of late Alaia
Paris - Emiratesvoice
Two months after legendary designer Azzedine Alaia's sudden death plunged the fashion world into mourning, an exhibition in homage to the "King of Cling" opens Monday in his studios in Paris. The Tunisian-born designer, renowned for the way his clothes hugged the body, died suddenly in November aged 82, reportedly of heart failure after falling down the stairs at his home. The diminutive maverick, who ignored fashion week convention by showing when and where he wanted, in July produced his first couture collection in six years to rapturous reviews. Now some of his most iconic dresses are going on display in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations. It includes the dress worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell, his longtime friend and muse, when she led
