A demonstrator died in hospital after being shot during protests in Turkey's Southeast, local media reported, the latest in a series of deaths highlighting simmering ethnic tensions in the Kurdish heartland.
The man died on Saturday in hospital after he was shot during a demonstration in the province of Hakkari to mark the deaths of three people in protests a year earlier, the Hurriyet Daily News said. It was not clear who shot him.
Another person was admitted to hospital after being hit by a gas canister, according to the news website.
Tensions are high in Southeastern Turkey, with PKK supporters claim of the government's failure to help Syrian Kurds fighting ISIL in the besieged town of Kobani on Turkey's Southern border.
In October, dozens were killed in riots by Kurds angry at the government's apparent inaction.
The unrest risks wrecking a delicately poised peace process aimed at disarming fighters from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), who have been fighting a 30-year-old insurgency against the Turkish authorities, demanding more autonomy.
