
One woman drowned and seven other people went missing after an overcrowded boat capsized in a river in the eastern Indian state Bihar Saturday, said local media.
The incident took place at Bakenia Ghat in Araria district of the state, when the boat was in mid-stream crossing the Bakra river with about 12 people on board, said Press Trust of India.
The boat was small and was carrying passengers more than its capacity, said the report.
Boat capsizing incident takes place from time to time in India. At least 22 people drowned and nine others went missing after a boat capsizes in a river in India's eastern Orissa state on Feb. 10, 2014.
