
At least 10 people, five ofthem children, were killed by heavy floods in Tanzania's economic capital, Dar es Salaam,dpa cited officials as saying Saturday.Hundreds of others were trapped by the floods, while dozens of homeshad been destroyed, according to regional police commander SuleimanKova.At least five bridges in and around Dar es Salaam had been sweptaway, said Kova.The city of 1.4 million people came to a standstill Saturday as storm waters flooded its streets.Meteorologists warned the heavy rains would continue for two moredays."Our men are on high alert," the regional police commander told dpa.
