Eleven people, including eight children, died when a minivan bus transporting kindergartners fell into a pond, Chinese news agency (Xinhua) reported.
It said the the accident happened late Thursday in a mountainous region near Hunan's capital, Changsha. The bus was carrying children home from school.
The authorities announced an investigation into the incident to determine its circumstances.
