At least two people were killed in a fire at the renowned 100-year-old LOMO optics plant in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, the website Fontanka.ru reported quoting police at the scene. Preliminary reports show the fire began due to violations of fire safety regulations during repairs on the roof of the building. Forty people have been evacuated, while 20 fire engines are working to put out the fire on the top floor and the roof of the building. Rescuers are searching the debris for survivors. LOMO was an internationally recognized brand of cameras produced in the Soviet Union. Fan clubs for users of the cult devices are still to be found all over the world.
