
Two brothers died of asphyxiation while a third sibling was injured on Saturday when they were cleaning a water well near the northern city of Irbid, according to the Civil Defence Department (PSD).The two brothers, aged 35 and 29, were using a motor to pump out water from the nine-metre well in the town of Sarih, on the eastern outskirts of Ibrib, the PSD Media, Education and Prevention Department said.The department said rescue teams pulled out the men from the well, using special equipment, and medics administered first aid to them at the site before they were rushed to the Prince Rashed Military Hospital, where one of them was declared dead on arrival and the other succumbed to serious injuries half an hour later in the intensive care unit.The doctor on duty at the hospital said the injured man was in a stable condition.The department urged the public to stick to safety regulations and assure themselves that there was adequate oxygen in the well before embarking on any maintenance work.
