Two fire fighters of Mumbai Fire Brigade were killed in a fire which ravaged a commercial area Saturday evening, said local media Sunday. The firemen, M.N. Desai and S.W. Rane, were reported missing since late Saturday evening when they rushed to fight the fire.
Their badly charred bodies with more than 80 percent burns were recovered from the debris afterwards, said Indo-Asian News Service.
Three other firemen were also seriously injured when combating a huge fire in the 50-year old under repair building in downtown Mumbai.
Four persons trapped inside the building were evacuated and scores of others from adjoining buildings were also evacuated before the building collapsed in parts.
It took firemen more than seven hours to put out the inferno under control.
