Two minor girls were drowned after falling from a makeshift bridge into a stream in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said Friday. The girls, both seven years old drowned on Thursday at village Affan in frontier Kupwara district, about 110 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. "The bodied of both the girls have been fished out and handed over to their relatives for burial," said a police spokesman. Locals said the duo lost their balance while trying to walk over wooden shacks (acting as bridge) laid over banks of the stream. "The duo fell down into gushing stream after falling from this temporary bridge," said Shahid Ahmad a local. Villages in Indian-controlled Kashmir usually lack basic facilities and are devoid of proper arrangements.
