At least two people were stabbed or slashed at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on New Year's Eve, authorities said late Tuesday. According to local media report, the fight took place on the main concourse near the ticket counter, and involved three people who knew each other. No bus passengers were affected. One of the three people stabbed the other two, CBS quoted police as saying. One of the victims was cut in the back of the head, the other in the abdomen. A Fire Department of New York (FDNY) spokesperson, who declined to be named, told Xinhua the medics responded to an emergency report of people stabbed at the bus terminal at 8:52 p.m. and they had rushed the two wounded to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The bus station was placed on lockdown following the stabbing, with no one allowed in or out. The terminal later reopened, according to CBS. Immediately following the incident, NJ TRANSIT reported bus service to and from the terminal may experience delays due to "police activity." The bus terminal is just one avenue block from Times Square, where millions have gathered waiting for midnight's New Year Eve ball drop ceremony.
