A family of four, including three doctors, committed suicide at their house in southern Indian city of Bangalore Thursday night by injecting themselves with legal drug, reported local daily Indian Express on Sunday. The family was found dead in their living room Friday after their adopted daughter called for help. Police found empty vials and syringes that were used by Dr. Mohammed Amanullah, 61, his wife Naveeda Banu, 50, sons Dr. Ehtesham Rasheed and Afham Rasheed, 28 and 26, said the report. The drug used was one typically in hospitals to temporarily paralyze patients to slip tubes into their wind pipes for drug delivery. It was also used for euthanasia in the case of animals. Autopsy reports said the deaths occurred due to neuromuscular blockages induced by the drug resulting in the stoppage of heart functions, said the report. The private hospital of the dead was doing very well and had good reputation among the patients, but mounting debts could be the reason for the suicide, said the report.
