3 people drown, 8 missing after boat capsizes in Malaysia

Three people drowned Saturday and eight others remained missing after a motorboat capsized in a river in eastern Malaysia, a police official said, according to dpa. Sixteen others were rescued after the accident near a village in thetown of Mukah in the state of Sarawak, 1,155 kilometres east of Kuala Lumpur, according to state police chief Muhammad Sabtu Othman. Muhammad said the victims were on their way back home after attending a wedding reception in a nearby village when the accident occurred. Search and rescue operations were continuing for the missing victims.
