At least three paramilitary troops and 11 militants were killed in a cross-border attack launched by Afghan militants into Pakistani tribal area of North Waziristan on Tuesday morning, military said.
Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the mouthpiece of Pakistan army, said in a statement that a group of terrorists attacked a check post of paramilitary troops Frontier Corps in Spinwam area of North Waziristan, a restive tribal area bordering Afghanistan.
The statement said that the troops repulsed the attack and militants fled the scene, leaving three of their accomplices behind.
The troops took them into custody and also arrested a militant involved in the attack.
Number and identities of the militants were not mentioned by the army statement.
The border villages of the tribal areas frequently come under attack by Afghan militants.
Islamabad accuses the Afghan government for not taking significant measures to eliminate militants near Pakistan-Afghan border.
Despite concerns voiced by the foreign office over repeated incidents of border violations, such incidents continue.
